Classic 120

Detling (Kent) Kit Car Show. Having considered building a Jaguar SS 100 replica since Christmas, in my heart of hearts I knew it was not affordable. At the show I met Malcolm Rolfe and Chris Boyer from Nostalgia Cars Limited who were showing their Classic 120, a Jaguar XK120 replica, like the SS100, based on the XJ6.  “I fell in love” and what’s more it is affordable.

Donor Cars

Monitor www.autotrader.co.uk and www.findit.co.uk to gauge market prices and availability of a suitable Jaguar XJ6 4.2L Series III. There are several around, but I’m not ready to make a decision until I’ve test driven a Classic 120.

 Classic 120

Taunton; Arrived at Nostalgia Cars, met up with Malcolm and Chris again. Both Mary and I test-drove the Classic 120.  Had a long talk about steering rack, chassis and bodywork as well as suitable engines and donor cars.  The test drive was around Taunton country lanes, the car handled well and was very smooth no buffeting even at 80 mph quite different to driving the Westfield. Not as quick even with 205 bhp, much more sedate in keeping with the classic lines and the 50’s era of the XK120. Mary driving the car pretty well decided us to build one.
